Near to the most represantive spots of Murano, San Donato’s cathedral and the glass museum, the tavern Al Duomo represents those disappeared places which place side by side the gastronomic tradition of a territory and the plain cooking, the simplicity and the genuineness of the product.

The wide hall of the tavern Al Duomo matches, during the summer, with a fresh and comfortable garden adorned with trees. The tavern, frequented a lot not only by tourists, but also by the muranesi, is famous for the traditional Venetian “cicchetti”. The “cicchetti” are hors-d’œuvre or, anyway, small “tastings” based on fish, meat or vegetables.

For the first courses the menu isn’t consolidated, it changes every day and draws ideas both from the Venetian cuisine and from the Italian one. The second dishes, instead, keep the local ichthyologic traditions: fried fish, cuttle-fish both cooked with its sepia and grilled, sole, Angler fish and, above all, sardines.

These ones, the real alpha and omega of Venetian cuisine, are made fried or in Greek way and, naturally, sarde in saor cannot miss. Between fish second dishes, fried “Moi” (flabby) deserve particular attention: it is a white fish very soft and not easy to be found. To complete the meal you have to taste the deserts, rigorously homemade, like as the traditional tiramisù and the Sacher Cake, but also pies with the fruits in season.
